Family Friendly Ibiza

Ibiza is the perfect place to visit for a family holiday. That is, for the whole family to enjoy together, not just for Mum and Dad to dump the kids while they lounge by the pool. If you are considering a holiday in Ibiza, then read our tips below and find out whats available for the whole family.

Having a Splashing Time
Being an island, Ibiza naturally offers a huge amount and variety of water-based activities. One spectacular attraction is the Twister Jet, located at San Antonio bay. This is like a rollercoaster on the sea, as the boat twists, turns, bounces and stops dead on the water. Of course, there are many less thrilling boat rips around the island. Many companies offer sightseeing trips from the major resorts and quieter places. You can hire a skippered boat for a day or half-day and go wherever you want. There are also many chartered trips available with a set itinerary, and visitors can choose from a speedboat, motor cruiser or even a sailing yacht. This is a superb way to see Ibiza’s enchanting coastline from the other direction and affords many opportunities for photographers.

There are many water parks as well, where the whole family can have fun in a safe environment. Flumes, slides and pools, with special areas for infants and toddlers.

Away From It All
The holiday island’s main attractions are, naturally, mostly by the coast, but there is plenty for a family to see and do away from the water. The varied landscape offers great opportunities for a short stroll or a day’s hike, or a nature trail through the many pine forests. Ses Feixes wetland bird sanctuary, near to Talamanca beach, is a stunning area with many different species, not least the flamingos, which breed here each Spring.

Among the fig and olive groves, orange and pine trees are some beautiful whitewashed villages, untouched by the tourism trade. These are a delight to visit and admire the traditional architecture, all the time travelling through beautiful landscape. Most of the north of the island is forested and is very popular with walkers and cyclists.

On the Town
While Ibiza Town, or Eivissa, will always be associated with the world’s wildest nightclubs, there is much for families to enjoy. The area around Dalt Vila is Spanish architecture at its most enchanting. Winding cobbled streets lead visitors up to enjoy fantastic views of the town down below. As with many Spanish towns that have been invaded by tourism, step just a couple of hundred yards away from the sea and you can experience a life that has not changed for centuries. All around Dalt Vila, there are pretty houses and bars that are a world away from the busy nightlife in the centre. Also not to be missed is a stroll around Eivissa’s fantastic marina. Here you can gaze in wonder at millionaires’ yachts, or just wander around to see the traditional fishing boats. All around are some fantastic restaurants, some traditional, some modern, but all offering dishes from local produce. There is much more to this enchanting town, and the whole island, than nightclubs.
